Your hosts are Klaus and Hala Knust, both professional chefs. The Mayfield Lodge is a traditional Edinburgh Victorian house dating from 1887, with many original features and much of the original character but with all the modern comforts of today. We are situated in the southside of Edinburgh, between the University of Edinburgh's George Square Campus and the Kings Buildings Campus, not far from the new National Libarary of Scotland in Causewayside.

Approximately a mile from the city centre, the number 42 Bus stops just opposite us and will take you within 10 minutes direct to the heart of the city, passing the antique shops in Causewayside, George Square and the many bars and restaurants near the university. You pass the historic Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street with Greyfriars Bobby statue,then over the Royal Mile and down to Princes Street. Get off the bus just before the Royal Mile on George IVth Bridge and you can walk up the Lawnmarket to Edinburgh Castle in 5 minutes, or wander down the High Street and Canongate to the Palace of Holyrood House.
We offer doubles, twins, single and family rooms. All our rooms are en suite and well equipped with television, hairdryer and generous hospitality tray.
We provide a superb breakfast, cooked to order and a selection of freshly squeezed juices. Vegetarian and Vegan breakfast on request. Any other diet requirements can be arranged with prior notice, as both of us are professional Chefs.
Packed lunches and evening meals can be provided on request.
For the comfort of our guests, the Mayfield Lodge is completely a non-smoking guest house.

Public Transport
By rail A taxi from Waverly Station will cost about 5.00 to the Mayfield Lodge.
By air Edinburgh International Airport is about 10 miles away. Take the Airport bus to the city centre at Waverly Station and then take a taxi to the Mayfield Lodge.
Buses from the city centre The number 42 bus from Hanover Street or The Mound ( outside the National Gallery) runs past the Mayfield Lodge and takes less than 10 minutes. Ask the Driver to let you off at "Royal Blind School west". For full bus information click here.
By road From the Edinburgh City Bypass (A720), join the A701, following signs to the City Centre. At a major junction, next to Cameron Toll shopping centre, this part of the A701 changes its name from Liberton Road to Craigmillar Park. Approximately 1/2 a mile after this junction turn left at the traffic lights into West Mayfield. Then turn left again at the Mayfield Church into Mayfield Road. The Mayfield Lodge at number 75, is only 200 yards away at the left hand side just after the Horseburgh Pharmacy.
