Our Hostel is a block from the excitement of Union Square, San Francisco's shopping and theatre district. There is a variety of restaruants, theatres, shops and art galleries right outside the front door of the hostel. Union Square is a great place to people watch or enjoy a picnic under the palm trees. You may take a breathtaking ride to Fisherman's Wharf and the Bay on the world-famous cable cards which are just two blocks away at Powell and Market Streets. You will also find public transportaion here to all areas of the city.

Hostelling International is a non-profit membership organization promoting peace through hostelling since 1909. To maintain our ability to offer low- budget accommodations, non-members will be asked to pay an additional $3 per night at check-in.
The hostel is located downtown on Mason Street, between Geary and O'Farrell.
From Highway 101 (Van Ness Ave.) head east on Post Street for 7 blocks, right on Mason Street and the hostel is 1.5 blocks south (see large Hotel Virginia sign)
From airport take Lorrie shuttle van (1-415-334-9000) to hostel; or catch the BART train from thr International Terminal to Powell Street station. Walk up Powell til you reach O'Farrell, turn left til you reach Mason. Turn right on Mason, we're half a block up.
From Ferry Building, take SF MUNI #2 bus to Sutter and Mason and walk 3 blocks south.
